The House of Representatives passed an amendment recently to the FY 2015 Commerce, Justice, Science (CJS) Appropriations bill that prohibits the Department of Justice from using any funds in states that have passed medical marijuana initiatives that would: "prevent such states from implementing their own state laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession, or cultivation of medical marijuana."
The amendment (H.Amdt.748) in the FY 2015 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations (CJS) (H.R. 4660) is now in the Senate and, if passed, would prevent the DEA from investigating and prosecuting serious issues such as the trafficking of marijuana to other states, and the illegal distribution of drugs to minors – both of which put our nation at risk. Without the funds necessary to prevent illegal use, production and cultivation, the DEA will not be able to enforce federal law when necessary.
Senate is planning to look at this bill next week! Please sign your letter to stop Senate from passing this detrimental amendment.
